Jason Edmunds is an Inuk expedition leader and educator from Nunatsiavut. He has distinguished himself through his deep commitment to cross-cultural understanding. He spent his childhood extensively travelling the Labrador coast with his father—hunting, fishing, bear guarding and assisting on boat charters. For over a decade, he has worked in the travel industry as an educator, mentor, and expedition and logistics manager. Jason is now a Director at Adventure Canada.
Jason collaborates with community stakeholders, indigenous educators, and businesses to build capacity, address power imbalances, and increase accountability. Jason strives to empowers indigenous communities and encourage deeper interaction between Inuit and non-indigenous entities through a focus on educational gaps and colonial legacies.
In 2020 he was recognized with the Parks Canada CEO award for his role in developing a visitor experience to the wreck of the HMS Erebus. Jason is a recipient of the RCGS Martin Bergmann Medal for Excellence in Arctic Leadership and was named to the 2024 class of The Explorers Club 50; Fifty People Changing the World that the World Needs to Know About.
